I flew up to Detroit last week to Detroit to visit with my great friend Michelle Graham and the rest of the Graham posse, attend a Detroit Lions football game, and get out of the Florida heat! Michelle and Suzi Graham got this great photo at Ford Field yesterday!
The rest of my stay has been alot of fun. Multiple hockey games, enjoying the cool weather, and hanging with buds has been alot of fun.
On Tuesday night, I am attending the Detroit Lions Courage House Dinner with Mark and Michelle Graham. The dinner will feature ESPN’s Mike Tirico, a long time friend of mine, at Ford Field. Tirico will be the guest speaker for the dinner that annually benefits HAVEN, Oakland County’s premier center for the prevention and treatment of domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse. Proceeds will target the center’s child abuse prevention and treatment programs. Mike is certainly busy…he is calling tonights Monday Night Football in Miami!
Two major Lions’ awards will be presented during the dinner program. The Ed Block Courage Award annually goes to a Lions’ player who has overcome injury and/or adversity to excel on the field.
Mike Utley will be the recipient of the “Ricky Sandoval Award”. The award, which recognizes individuals who have made contributions both in sports and in the community, will now be named the “Ricky Sandoval Award” in honor of the late Lions’ director of security who lost his battle with pancreatic cancer earlier this year. I knew Ricky, and attended his memorial service a few months back. It will be a great night for the Lions and the Community!
As you can see, I have my Lion’s Hat and my winter coat. Its not often that I get to wear either!
