I had a wonderful week in Springfield. It’s been a few years since I won this tournament, but everywhere I go, people treat me like I won it yesterday!
Springfield is a great gathering point for a lot of my friends from throughout the mid-west. In addition to many other friends, this week joining my hosts, the McGraw’s, were the McGowan’s, the McCracken’s, and Mr. McDonald! That’s a lot of Irish/Scottish blood in one town with me, Michelle McGann!
Most people don’t know I like to stay with families when traveling. In my 21 years on the LPGA Tour, I have developed friendships that have lasted a lifetime. I heard today that almost half of the tournament field this week stayed with Springfield families. Trust me, there is nothing like a home cooked meal, a comfortable couch, and a family of smiles to come home to after a tough day on the course.

And for many, many years, I was hosted by Tom and Jill McCracken, until they moved to Nebraska. Now they have moved back to the Land of Lincoln, and it was great to see them after so many years! I think I stayed with them my first year on tour (1989 when I was 18) and stayed with them for almost 15 years.
I just landed in Washington, DC, and am headed to Richmond, VA for a charity pro-am tomorrow, then a late night flight tomorrow and will be home in my own bed for a few days at least!
Thank you Springfield! One of my favorite homes away from home!
