I stopped in Stafford, VA on my way to the Sybase Classic and spent the night with my cousins, the DeVanes and their kids, Matt & Alyssa. Even though they live in Virginia, we get to see each other more often than typical as they visit Florida a couple times a year. I was dying for a meatball sub during my drive, and was pleasantly surprised to find homemade meatballs on the stove when I arrived!
I have now arrived in Upper Montclair and have a busy Wednesday planned. I am participating in an off-site Pro-Am during the morning, and then the LPGA and I will be hosting 20 JDRFkids and their families at the Upper Montclair Country Club this afternoon. I previously held a “clinic/meet and greet” such as the one planned today in Phoenix, and had a great time. I am looking forward to meeting these kids who also have type 1 diabetes, and sharing my experiences with them. Golf has undoubtedly helped me remain healthy with this terrible disease, and I hope that each one of them finds their own favorite physical activity that they can participate in throughout their life! I am sure we will have a great time this afternoon!
